 Jerry Brown

Dr. Brown is a Founding Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at Florida International University , where he teaches courses on cultural anthropology, social movements, and the role of technology in society. He is co-author of Profiles in Power : The Antinuclear Movement and the Dawn of the Solar Age , and of numerous articles and technical reports on energy, environment and public health.

Dr. Brown is a Fellow and Trustee of the World Business Academy , whose mission is to explore the unique role that business leaders and entrepreneurs can play in shaping a positive and sustainable global future. He is president of Jerald Brown & Associates, a business consulting and investment banking firm that assists energy and technology companies in accessing equity and debt from the capital markets.

Over the past two decades, Dr. Brown has served in executive roles in public interest and public policy organizations. In the mid-1980s, he was the Northern California Executive Director for Business Executives for National Security, an organization of Fortune 500 executives that lobbied to prevent nuclear war and end the Cold War. From 1998-2001, he served as Executive Director of the Radiation and Public Health Project, a nonprofit research organization studying the links between radiation and cancer.

Dr. Brown received his doctorate in anthropology from Cornell University , where he specialized in industrial relations and Latin American Studies.
